Used C# in Unity to create game systems including a save/load feature, time, impressions, gardens, quests, submissions, and reward collecting
Debugged the game by repeatedly self-testing, using Trello and Microsoft Form to document any source of errors
Self-taught C# within half a year through personal research and trial and error; proficiently used the language to complete all of the in-game code and identified each function
Gained experience in testing overlapping graphic layers and animation completeness
Tested the mobile compatibility of the game to investigate its potential to be launched in the App Store
Potion Decision
2D Mobile Simulation Game
Main Gameplay:
Potion Decision is a 2D mobile simulation game made by Unity. Resource management and rewards/penalties are the main mechanic designs in the game. Players will experience life as potion crafter that helps to take care of their grandma's potion store in the town. While crafting potions and managing the store, players will also need to deal with interpersonal relationships with the villagers and discover grandma's secret. Events will be unlocked when the player became friends with the villagers. Players' decisions of giving different potions will affect these events' results and villagers' futures. They might face the choice of benefiting the villagers or benefiting themselves.
Why is important to make this game:
For the players, why this project is worth doing because it could be another place where they could find relaxation. Simulation games offer the possibility of allowing people a place to release their imagination and 'escape' from reality. Anxiety and depression have become major problems these days. People need places like simulation games to take a break. It allows people to experience different lives without suffering the consequences.
For myself, this project exercised my proficiency in using Unity, designing, and uses of codes. My personal expectation is it can be developed as a long-term project.
Player’s Target Motivation:
The ultimate goal: Crafting potions
Long-term goal: Discover Grandmother’s secrets from the notebook and NPCs.
Short-term goal: Know the story of NPC and solve it through potions.
